Beachside Retreat 4WD Tours

Getting into the four wheel drive vehicle
Full and half day, escorted 4 wheel drive nature tours, showcasing Tasmania’s magnificent coastal scenery and pristine rain forests, are offered to visitors to the far north west, with preference given to resident guests at Beachside Retreat.

Tours are designed for visitors of all levels of fitness, who wish to relax, take in the sights and be driven by a knowledgeable guide, who has lived in the area for many years. Short walks along forested tracks and frequent photographic opportunities are available. Bird watching and wildlife are a speciality, with field guides and binoculars provided.

Places visited in the far north west, include drives into the Tarkine wilderness, Dip Falls and the Big Tree, the Arthur River, Edge of the World and Rocky Cape National Park.

Special ‘waterfall to waterfall’ trips can be organised in the late spring, when the falls are at their best, following the winter rains. A moderate level of fitness is required as tracks may be steep and slippery; trip not suitable for children.

The 4WD vehicle, a Land Rover Defender is licenced to carry up to 7 passengers, aged from 6 years upwards. Family tours, with younger children, can be catered for separately. Tours leave from Beachside Retreat West Inlet, on the Stanley Peninsula and include National Park entry fees and refreshments.

A short familiarisation trip of the Stanley Peninsula and historic township, pick up and drop off in Stanley, are available by arrangement; other trips on request.
